I don’t know if any of you have used the app, jacket.FM. But I hear that people are having trouble getting into it today. I have also been hearing that the developer plans to close it down and make a different app. I have heard someone say on a zello channel that people are having trouble getting into their accounts. And I am having the same issue. So I am beginning to wonder if it’s finally busted. Have any of you that use the app have the same issue?

Never used it. It didn't…
Never used it. It didn't last long!?
infrastructure
So I don't know what infrastructure the dev is using but if he is using anything by google cloud, cloudflare, or any of amazon's cloud infrastructure, I've heard they were all having issues and still are from what I gather. If it is gone, what a shame.
i can get into it fine.
tried a couple hours ago it's working for me.
I just logged in less than…
I just logged in less than five minutes ago and stuff was posted within the last thirty minutes as of 7:00 US Eastern time.
Oh, they must’ve fixed it.
I see. They must’ve fixed it because when I tried it was like 4:00 pm eastern time. So they must have fixed it shortly after I made this post. The reason I thought it was going away was because all the talk I’ve heard about the developer planning on closing it. There’s a lot of talk about that up there
I didn't realize what
I didn't realize what was going on. and I haven't used the app for a while, but I was wondering why I haven't been getting any notifications. Tried logging in and nothing. turns out that the app is gone. Went to the app store page from my purchases and the app is gone.
I was experiencing the same problem
I was experiencing the same problem a couple days within logging in it would just pop up with an error message, then I was finally able to login, but now that I’m logged in everything‘s completely blank you can’t do anything whatsoever within the profile tab, the library tab, the record tab, the current tab and the 4U tab. Everything is just blank as well for the messages and notifications. So I’m able to login now, but it’s unusable.
Well that didn't last long…
Well that didn't last long. I went to the website itself and here's what I found: Jacket.fm
On Indefinite Hiatus
User archives are being generated and will be available for download soon.
Thank you for being part of the Jacket.fm community
Seems as it’s working again
Earlier, I was experiencing problems with logging in as I’ve been, but I did contact the developer within my problem. He said that it was not intentional, and I just logged in again because it kept logging me out, and everything seems to be working again with being able to access Your channels, viewing your profile and so on. Earlier, though I was having problems. But as I said, it seems to be fixed at least for right now.
won't be the same
Welp jacket won't be the same again. The one thing that really set this app apart was to be able to record, and go live, now that you can't ' upload anything anymore, it's lost it's value. Thanks to a certain blindy who messed it up for the rest of us! I said what I said and I don't care if said person sees this or not. To the dev, thank you, thank you for all the hard work you put into this app, thank you for listening and making our ideas come to life with your app, thank you for being transparent and keeping us in the loop. Thank you, for being, you! You don't see devs like this much nowadays and if you do, vary far and few!
I completely agree with you
Yeah, I completely agree with you, it’s a shame that a certain individual had to ruin everybody’s experience, the app had a lot of potential, and yeah, It definitely won’t be the same when being able to record and go live anymore, I feel as it’s kind of a good thing that his new audio invite app that he’s working on currently will be only invite only, maybe this is the best approach, but yeah, it’s unfortunate that a certain individual had to ruin everyone else’s experience.
It is unfortunate
it is unfortunate that it had to go, and I don’t want to blame anyone, but people in general need to watch themselves when using these apps because it could spoil other people‘s experiences with it. We should learn to be on our best behavior one on these apps. I’m not calling out any single person here, I’m just saying in general.
re: It is unfortunate
I doubt this individual is even on here anyways and if so, I've got no, issues calling him out. I've heard about the guy and I've also heard about some of the things he does and I'm not at all, a fan! It's people like him that should not even be on blindy social networks. This app had way more potential than you know. From what I know, said person was starting a whole bunch of things with some individuals and it not only was on there, but other apps. He went from that, to harassing the dev and saying all kinds of stuff. I don't know what, but I do know some stuff started. I kind of really wanna find out what was said because honestly, I will not stop calling the guy out until I get answers from him! Shame on said person! I'm sorry if I went off topic but this person needs to be heled accountable and I will not stop talking about it until my job, is complete! If you all wanna talk about this more, my box is opened. It's a wonder why devs and sited people feel the way they feel about us, it's because of entitled, selfish blindies like these! I knew this app wasn't gunna last long at all and it's people like him who ruin it for the rest of us. Why you think these other apps didn't last long at all either. I rest my case!
Heard some things but I don’t know exactly what’s true and what
I remember him talking about a person that used to run a radio station harassing him or something and he didn’t want any contact with that person. I won’t go into detail. But anyway, that’s what I heard. I don’t wanna spread any bad rumors or causing any major issues.
Last time I tried to get in
Last time I tried to get into the app (around last week or so), it just straight up gives me errors when trying to log in, signing in with Apple ID doesn't even work anymore so...yeah, the app is practically dead.
I tried to download the app and...
I tried to download the app a day or so ago, and yeah. It's gone from the app store. Welp...that didn't last long. Too bad. I enjoyed posting on there.
audiopub.site might be an…
audiopub.site might be an Alternative, I haven’t used jacket FM so I don’t know about its features, but audio pub at least allows you to share audio recordings and such, comments are of course included, so it might at least be a good enough substitute.
What's the drama?
I've been kinda skipping this thread for a while since I've never used or heard about this app in the past, but after reading the thread and learning about how positively the app actually was received, I wonder what features it had that made it so interesting and why it was ultimately ruined. Googling around the only thing I could find was its Google Play page, which makes it sound like some kind of audio-only Twitch, and I found absolutely nothing about the drama that led to its end. Even limiting the search to the AudioGames forum and AppleVis did not yield any useful results, as Google found nothing related on AudioGames and the product thread here on AppleVis also seems to be gone.
Regarding audiopub.site
I know this is not related to jacket FM in some form, but I’ve heard a few things about audiopub.site, and I tried signing up for it, but it seemed a little bit complex. Is it completely free to sign up for? Because the registration seem to be a little bit of a pain I’m a voice over user as well.
Yes, it’s completely free.
Yes, it’s completely free, you don’t have to pay for anything. I use my Apple account to sign in and it was quite easy. I have a few recordings up there myself.
Oops, I forgot,
Oops, I forgot, I actually signed up with it but it wasn’t that hard for me. Use my Apple account but I didn’t.
Do you by chance know how long it takes for your audio upload to
Yes, I signed up for it earlier, but now I’m having a problem where I’m having to wait for my recording to be accepted and I have no idea how long that’s gonna take. By chance would you know how long it takes for you to be accepted, my recording I just uploaded earlier, still says pending.
Other apps like jacket FM
Since the app has unfortunately been shut down, what other apps similar to this one do you recommend? I do also use Vorail.
my thoughts
I’m not sure if I’ve posted about this before, but here are my thoughts.
Honestly, I’m not surprised the app is no longer around.
I gave it a try for a few days and quickly realized it wasn’t for me. The interface felt cluttered, and many of the recordings were excessively long—some lasting up to two hours. At least the app displayed the duration before playback, which helped. For comparison, Vorail never showed the length of recordings, but it felt far less clunky to use.
In my opinion, if a post doesn’t get to the point within 30 seconds—maybe a minute at most—I’m not going to stick around. Even platforms like TikTok suffer from this issue, and that’s video content.
If people want their audio posts to be heard, they need to avoid aimless rambling. Otherwise, listeners will just skip past them.
This is one of the reasons I’ve stepped away from audio-based posting altogether.
Vorail is so not it
If you wanna support a dev who does nothing with the app, does not take is user bass into account and don't take feedback into consideration at all, be my guest. but cmon! 5 bucks a month for an app that don't get updated half the time, and you got a dev who is selfish and greedy at best, yeah no. I'm sorry but I'd rather put my money and support into devs who listens to their user bass and takes ideas into consideration to make the app better thank you very much! If the dev gave a care about us, that would be a different story but he doesn't. Oh and you can't even delete your posts either! It's 2025! The last time I was on there, I put up a suggestion regarding deleting posts and people told me that said dev does not listen to user feedback no more. So I deleted the app and gave it a one star review! I will not be going back there!
Regarding Vorail
That's a shame, because back when I used Vorail, the developer actually listened to feedback—as long as it was reasonable.
Regarding the ability to delete your own posts, I've seen that abused on various platforms. Someone can say something, then later delete it and pretend it never happened—just because they got cold feet.
Sure, we all say things in the heat of the moment, but in the real world, you can’t just erase your words. I’ve seen Reddit threads where deleted comments leave conversations completely disjointed. No thanks.
When I used to suggest things on Vorail, the developer would at least explain why something couldn't be implemented. That kind of transparency mattered.
As for the five-dollar fee—paying isn’t the issue for me. I left because I just wasn’t using the app enough to justify the cost.
No, not the point at all!
Here's the deal. Every, and I do mean, every, social media app allows for you to delete your own, content. FB does it, twitter does it, everything does. I don't see why this needs to be different. Oh and I'm not calling twitter X. That's dumb Lol. With regards to the dev listening to feedback, yes, back in the early days of said app, he use to be very good about listening to feedback, now that he's charging for the app and doing what he, wants. He's not been doing that. I honestly hope your not defending this poor excuse of the dev acting the way he's acting. Not right. Nor deleting content because if you are, shame! Sure you have your opinions but these excuses, more so when I'm stating facts as such, not cool! I'm not the only one who is saying the exact thing. I've heard this, and many other things from people that are over there. If you wanna recommend an app that only wants your money, no feedback given and everything else that I dislike under the sun, be my guest! I will not be recommending that app no more. Look at the reviews on the app store that should tell you all you need to know. I was just looking and there is literally some regarding feedback and how feedback is not taken as such. Do your homework! Will I miss talking with people I vibed with on there? Sure but the deal is, if you really wanna contact me that bad you can find me other places that's not this!
Right to be forgotten
The right to be forgotten is actually enshrined in EU legislation, originally in Directive 95/46/EC, and later in the GDPR, in addition to being a constitutional right in some jurisdictions like here in Portugal, so not providing an option for people to delete their own personal data is a violation of these laws.
The practical usefulness of the right to be forgotten concept is that we should promote a society where people are free to learn and improve without having to be judged by ideas that they no longer identify themselves with, especially in cases where the expressions of those ideas never actually caused any relevant damage either because they never actually acted on their thoughts or because they learn something that changed their mind later. Furthermore debating should not be regarded as a competition to see who dominates and humiliates their opponent first but to exchange ideas and learn from other people's points of view, not to mention that any arguments directly attacking the opposition instead of its ideas are fallacious anyway, so unless we're talking about factual evidence with public interest, people's right to be forgotten should always prevail.
Thots on jakit.FM
I used it and it was an interesting app, it really seemed to be made for IOS and the android version was just slapped together with no thot to how talkback works, all the hints were made for voiceover so you had inaccurate hints that talkback was giving you, it said there were actions but swiping up and down either did nothing or went through actions but double tapping didn't do anything, I don't remember
It's sad someone had to go and rooen it for everyone
re: Right to be forgotten
Then you need to contact the dev or someone else will. It's not like he's gunna care anyways and he'll just get in trouble.
re: Right to be forgotten
I don't file frivolous formal complaints about things that don't affect me personally, but the option to file complaints at any EU member state's national data protection commission, after exhausting other more reasonable options to address the problem, exists and the whole redressing process including taking entities that refuse to comply to court, is totally free of charge. Following a complaint, the attorney general's department or public ministry of the member state where the complaint was filed will analyze the case, notify the alleged infringer if they think that the case has merit, and if the alleged infringer does not demonstrate compliance or start complying in good faith, apply whatever measures they see fit to force compliance. As a natural EU citizen I can certainly do this and have done it in the past, but I believe that this right extends to pretty much anyone within EU borders.
