After updating my SE 2020, I can no longer get it to read the notifications when they pop up.
All I hear is new notification, or it speaks the time.

I have to swipe the screen to find out what the messsage. Speak notifications is on. They’re no focus options set up.

Do I have to reset the phone? I really don[t look foward to doing that. Is there a workaround or do I have to put up with this until the next update?

Same issue here. You are not alone. This used to work fine in iOS 15.

I've heard about it though. Man, yes resetting the phone would be a pain! Yikes! I really hope this'll get fixed in the next update. For now, just contact Apple Support. For now, I may have a solution. If you unlock the phone (not with a passcode, with face id/touch id etc) then swipe till you find the notification. Flick down to "More". Open it. At some point in time after expanding a grouped notification, the text of the individual notification would be little more than "new" or "1 of [insert how many notifications in the group]" and going to more on the notification helped with that. let me know if it works.
