Hello everyone,

I am looking for an accessible weather app that will send me rain/snow notifications and lightning strike alerts. I know The Weather Channel did this at one point, but they updated it with a new redesign that broke accessibility. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Carrot weather is very accessible, and I know it has the types of notifications you're looking for, especially the lightning one.

Weather Gods is very accessible and easy to use. Scott is very responsive to accessibility issues that might come up. Check the app.

WG is a rather lovely app though it is worth pointing out notifications are part of the subscription model. It's one of those apps where there is a lot of value to the subscription but, unless you are a weather buff, it does get a bit expensive, I'm also not entirely convinced it is that accurate in the places I am.

That was the first one that came to mind.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your suggestions. After looking at both apps I decided to purchase the extended forecast and premium subscriptions for Weather Gods. Premium for the lightning alerts and for notifications in general among many other features, and extended forecast for the precipitation and thunderstorm alerts. Hopefully they work as expected though I don't exactly want to wish for rain or thunderstorms to test it.

If you have issues regarding accessibility, Scott is responsive to questions. Also for input. Do not know about others apps but he does provide support ASAP. Enjoy the app. I believe Thomas did a podcast.

Hi. You also might try any local weather apps that are in your state or region. I have the local CBS and ABC apps which are aphiliated with South FL where I reside. These apps give acurate lightning and rain notifications especially during the summer. Just thought I would throw it out there. :)
