Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to see if others are experiencing a frustrating new accessibility barrier within WhatsApp, specifically when interacting with the Meta AI chat interface on iOS 26.2.
The Challenge ::
There has been a significant regression regarding how we interact with Meta AI responses. Previously, VoiceOver users could focus on a message generated by the AI and simply swipe one finger up or down to access the "Copy" action via the rotor. This is the standard, expected behavior that currently still works perfectly fine in all other regular WhatsApp chat threads.
However, in the Meta AI chat, this gesture no longer reveals the "Copy" option. The "Actions" rotor menu is either missing this command or failing to populate it entirely. This makes it incredibly difficult and inefficient to extract or save information provided by the AI.
I have already reached out to WhatsApp Accessibility Support regarding this. If you are facing this same issue, I encourage you to report it as well so we can increase the visibility of this bug.
Note of Caution: When you file a ticket, you will likely receive an automated AI response from Meta. Don't let that stop you! Keep your technical details (OS, Screen Reader, and these steps) handy in a notepad. When you receive the follow-up survey, be sure to mark their performance as negative and paste your specific challenge into the final feedback box.
In any checkbox-triggered text field, I've been using the phrase: "Support did not address my accessibility challenge" to ensure it hits their quality metrics.
You can report the bug here: https://www.whatsapp.com/contact/?eea=1&subject=messenger&form_type=accessibility
Has anyone found a reliable workaround for this, or are we all stuck waiting for a fix? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments!

Just copy with VoiceOver
I never bother learning how to copy stuff on any particular application on iOS, since outside text editing fields, they all do it differently, and that's when they even provide the functionality. Copying text using VoiceOver by tapping the screen with 3 fingers 4 times works well in most situations, so that's what I use by default.
