I generally know what color cyan is, but I was having a difficult time understanding what shade something like cyan-blue-70 might be. So I created a Pages document, placed rectangle objects on each quadrant of the page and gave them borders, noting each color name of a rectangle and border. Then through a horrible process fed each image of a page of colors into Gemini to describe them to a blind person.
Seems the numbers correspond to lower numbers and darker shades, or higher numbers for lighter shades. Not too sure yet if the naming is derived from subtractive or additive color systems.
There were a few mild surprises. For example, the darkest browns, according to the AI, are called dark-yellow-orange and have low numbers. Would have never guessed that one
