Messages and the iPhone 5s

Hi
Has anyone experienced any freezing problems on the iPhone 5s in the messages app? Whenever I am at a text field to type a message, the phone seems to freeze for 5-10 seconds when I double tap the text field to type in it. Has anyone had the same issue? If so, how can I fix this?

yes voice over on safari is a shame.
apple should have already solved this two years ago.
let's see if on IOS 8 apple solves this once for all ...

I've only noticed it when composing a new message to someone that you've just added to the to field. Once a conversation is already established, the lag is gone.

Hi,
I would sometimes experience a similar delay when using a third party App (Flecksy) to send a message.
As it only happened with messages that had a long conversation, I assumed that the delay resulted from the phone having to load all of the previous correspondence.
I have found that by deleting old messages my Message App on my iPhone 5 now runs quickly and without delay.
