Mobilizing my podcast setup?

By KE8UPE, 23 August, 2022

Forum
iOS and iPadOS

Hello,
The main computer I use to produce, edit, & publish my podcast has to be sent in for service.
As a result, I'm seriously considering "mobilizing" my setup by purchasing the full versions of BackPack studio & Ferrite recording studio.
I'd use BackPack studio to record the show, & Ferrite to edit then I'd take the edited version & use Microsoft Edge, to upload to Pinecast.
I'd do all of this using either my iphone 13 pro max or m1 ipad pro, both of which, are currently running their respective betas of iOS16 quite nicely.

How does this setup sound?
Could it work?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

is this pinecast you mentioned a free service, or do they charge a monthly sub for hosting your podcasts

Pinecast

Hello,
Pinecast charges $6/month for their, "starter" plan, which is what I'm on.
That gives you unlimited episodes, uploads up to 10mb, I think & more.
Their support is super helpful as well.

Holy wow! I don’t read here much but as a podcaster this caught my eye. Backpack is a fantastic recorder for podcasting. You can really get the sound how you want it. It looks like ferrite will be great for the production end. We’ve been using backpack for editing provided you can easily trim etc. this looks cool! We might buy it. I’m not sure about backpack studio’s stability when running betas however because we don’t run those around here. But in theory as someone who has been using backpack studio to produce multiple radio shows as well as our current podcast; and researching ferrite; I don’t see any reason why this setup won’t work for you. Not being a user of ferrite there might be something I’m missing but based on what I know and I’ve read so far I don’t see why not.

How do you edit with Backpack studio?

Hi Amy,
You mentioned that you edited with backpack studio.
How does that work? I didn’t think backpack supported editing, yet? They said they might in the 2.5 update though.
Also, what’s the name of your current podcast? I’m always looking for new shows.

What microphones are you…

What microphones are you using? The ones on the iPhone especially, are pretty pants. Realise that content, as they say, is king but, considering the lengths you go to in tidying up the audio, I assume you are using something external?
