Money Reader Currencies

Hi. Regarding the Money Reader app, I realise that it supports a number of currencies, but how might I request additional currencies to be added? Within the United Kingdom, British Pounds are recognised, however, these have to be issued by the Bank of England. In Scotland, we have Pounds Sterling issued by 3 Scottish banks and these are not recognised. Additionally, I would like to see the Romanian New Lei currency added to Money Reader. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hey,
I don't think you'll have any luck. I was living on and off in Taiwan for a couple of years, and so I sent them high res photos of Taiwanese money, and... well... no luck. I needed it, too.

although the app has now been taken over by a new developer hence the recent update this year I wonder if anyone has tried to talk to them yet? as I know money reader doesn't recognise the new £5 note issued in the UK, and presumably eventually all notes will end up like this.

Hello.

I hate to take up more storage space on your device or put another app on for money because that'd be redundant. But maybe that's what you'll have to do. The only app I can think of is the looktel money reader. I'm sure there are other apps that will do the same thing your curhent one does. read money. I can't think of any other than the one I suggested, but I'd try searching on the applevis site for similar apps. Some may not be free, but at least you'll be able to read your money.

Also, there's another site you could try. It's called

www.alternativeto.net.

They help people find alternatives for computer sofware, or apps for apple or android. I used it to try & find a weather app I could use. Just type the name of the sofware or app & hit search & start browsing! If I recall correctly they even let you suggest alternatives.

Hope these leads are valuable to you & can at least give you somewhere to start looking. Sorry I couldn't be more help! Good luck!

Hi dawn, thanks for that site, I haven't heard of that site before. i think the person may have look tell installed, because it just says Money reader. I also wonder if this app might be on the way out, which is a shame. I say this because there was a pilot program rolled out to distribute free Ibill identifiers to all patrons who are registered with the NLS. Anyway good luck as others have said. dawn, in looking for a weather ap, if you want a very accessible one, look at weather radio. It's five dollars but well worth it. just offering some help.

I just had another look at money reader on the appstore and the support documentation still gives looktell as the developer, though as the app has gone free maybe that means its no longer going to be developed. On the other hand the developer is now listed as IPPLEX Holdings Corporation I wonder if they can be tracked down some how. Unfortunately yes looktell isn't that bothered about improving the app.
