Need Help with Voice Brief and Twitter Authorization

I just purchased Voice Brief, and so far like it. However, I'm having trouble getting it to authorize with Twitter. When I clicked on the "Not authorized, authorize me" button (or whatever it is) in the settings dialog, a dialog box came up saying to, I believe, enable HTTPS mode. After choosing the OK button, I was asked to enter my Twitter name and password, then pressed the Authorize button. There was also a check box asking to remember me, which I checked. (I didn't see an HTTPS checkbox or anything.) After double-tapping the Authorize button, I was brought back to the previous screen, but it was still showing "Not authorized". Thinking there was something wrong, I removed the entry and tried again, but now I get a message saying the token I had wasn't accepted as it was either too old or revoked. Is there a way I can start over again from scratch? Thanks. Kelly

You are not alone on this issue. We had several people that have mentioned the same problem. Back in March I did a podcast on this and found that I had the similar problem. Had to mess with it quite a bit to make it work for me. I'm sure it was just pure luck on my part but I did something to let me in. So here is what I posted back on March 25th of this year on what I did. I'm sure this was nothing but rubbing my hair the rightway while the foot was spinning another direction kind of luck! ;) March 25th, 2012 Post: I finally got mine to work. Not sure exactly what the trick was but here is what I did. Believe me it is a lot of work and I'm sure somewhere and somehow it can be done easier. 1) turn off the HTTPS in your Twitter account. 2) Revoke anything that is IOS and IOS Mobile related in your Twitter -> Settings -> Apps on the Twitter website. 3) On your phone. Go to the Settings -> Twitter and get your ID working in there first. Here I notice that I don't have Twitter installed. I only use Tweetlist myself. So I installed the original Twitter. 4) Run the Twitter App and made sure I was able to sign in. 5) Now open Voice Brief and re-authorize my Twitter account. Boom, it works for me now. Tell me what I did that made it work? I couldn't but it might just have something to do with the actual Twitter not being installed? I do not know. Try this and let me know.

Hi, Thanks for the info. What I ended up doing was removing then reinstalling the app. Actually, I had been reading the dialog box about the HTTPS thing wrong, so this time I made sure it was unchecked before authorizing the app. Now everything's working properly. I really don't understand why it's necessary to have that box unchecked, since other apps I have such as Dimensions or Songify were authorized just fine with it checked. Oh well, at least things are working correctly. Thanks. Kelly

Hi when I use voice brief do I have to turn off voice over? And is tere a way to set it so it will let me know when I new nodification? thanks alot

Hi Kellly, you have to disable https from twitter. Go to www.twitter.com and log into your twitter account. After you log in, you need to find settings or account settings or something like that. It's been a while since i did this so I can't quite remember the exact wording. HYou just disable the https from the twitter account. I had the same problem with voice brief. I found what works is after you disable the https, close the voice brief app completeley. Make sure it isn't in the app switcher. Relaunch the voice brief app, and try to authorize voice brief again. It should work.

Kelly, I am glad to hear that you had no issues once you have turned off the https setting. Some other folks did not have the same luck as we did and I am left clueless in how to help them. Yes, I agree I do not understand the rational of why Voice Brief is different from say other apps that has no problem in using Twitter with out having to turn off the https from the Twitter account. Very bizarre. tasharon, No you do not need to have VO turned off to use Voice Brief. You will still need to use VO if you want to skip or go to the next section. Usually, I just do a triple finger double tap to turn off the sound to listen through the process. Once it is done. Then go back and triple finger double tap to bring the sound back on. Hope that helps and answer your question.
