Official Apple Accessibility Discussion Board

Forum
iOS and iPadOS

Hello,
I just wanted to post a bit of information that may be interesting to many iOS users here in case this hasn't been noticed before.
Apple has a community forum dedicated to accessibility and one of the forums is focused on vision.
The link is posted at the end, but I'll just point out why as a blind user you should checkout this forum:

1. It's more than likely that folks at Apple (all departments) monitor those forums, so bugs and feature requests highlighted there may have some positive effect.
2. It looks like low vision and newly and/ or cutoff blind users post there, so those interested can help out by answering questions.
3. Developers are also likely to quickly scan through those forums.

Discovered Before

I actually discovered this forum when I was searching for an answer to an issue I'm having where my Mac won't let me install Yosemite. I actually registered, but couldn't figure out how to post there. But I think I'll check back there again. It's awesome that Apple is taking all these steps to ensure maximum accessibility across the spectrum. Regarding my issue, it appears to be a bit more complicated than I thought. I phoned the Apple accessibility line this morning, but I'm calling them back because I've got someone coming over soon to work with me.

A Clarification

Hello,
Before anyone misunderstands me, this is just Apple's official platform where users talk to other users. No one from Apple (to my knowledge) intervenes.
However, I think they do lerk there.
Also, Windows has a similar forum, and Google has groups for accessibility.

Not Accessible...

I think it's wonderful that Apple has a dedicated forum for users of accessibility features. However, based on a quick look at the VoiceOver-specific category of the forum and an attempt to post a message, it isn't anywhere I'd honestly recommend people look for information or assistance.

Once one gets past the inability to enter text into the body area of a new post (JAWS 16/IE 11), it doesn't appear as though the forum is very active--especially when considering the traffic levels of the ViPhone e-mail list or the AppleVis website.

For people seeking assistance, I'd recommend contacting Apple Accessibility directly, or the ViPhone or AppleVis communities--depending upon whether one prefers an e-mail list or a web interface.

Thanks for sharing this
