Jim if you want to setup and configure you're email on the iPad.
First go to settings mail contacts and calendars.
Next choose add account.
Next choose the typeof account you want to add.
Next enter the email address and password and then choose the next button.
Next after that choose save to add the account to mail.
Now that you have added you account it is time to send a email.
To send a email.
First choose compose in the mail app once you open it.
Next in the to field type in the email address you want to send the email too.
Next swipe to the subject field and then double tap it to set focus to it.
Next type the subject of the email.
Next swipe to the message body text field and then double tap it.
Next type the message.
Next swipe left to the send button and then double tap it.
One more thing make sure you close settings when you are done setting up you're email account.
To do that double tap the home button to go in to the app switcher.
Next swipe right to find settings.
After that swipe up with three fingers to close settings.
