Phone Won't Ring

I have an iPhone 8 running 13.2. I've noticed that the phone won't ring if the number is not in my contacts list. The only way I know about it is by a notification. It rings normally if the number is in contacts. Also, I never hear a sound when I get a text. I only find it through a notification. What could be the problem?

Sounds like silence unknown callers is on. To turn off, Go to the Phone section in Settings.

For texts, Are sounds and alerts on? You may also check to see if you accidentally activated a Do Not Disturb option.

I have had this same problem for some time now and I finally figured it out. I had to go to Settings > Phone then turn off “silence unknown callers”. And it fixed the problem! Hope this advice helps.
