Problem with the sound of the Eloquence voice on my new iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Hello everyone.
Today I just got my new iPhone, but I was a little disappointed because when I put the Eloquence voice on and turn up the volume it tends to lose all the character of the sound. It only sounds high-pitched and loses body, I don't know if I explain myself. The funny thing is that when I play music, or a video on YouTube while using the voice, it sounds normal, but when I stop the music or the video the voice sounds terrible. I hope I have explained myself, and if anyone has a solution, I will greatly appreciate it if you comment. Has this happened to you? And another thing? On my iPhone 12 Pro Max the voice sounds excellent, whether with low volume or high volume. It only sounds horrible on this new iPhone

Have you tried other voices, do they distort like that one?

If so, report it to [email protected] if not, I'd still report it, just in case they can do anything.

I haven't used eloquence on the IPhone in a long time, but I remember something to do with hurtz? You could change the setting to make it sound more muddy and the higher you went the more clear it was.

i've tried siri's voice 1, paulina's (i'm from mexico) i've even tried latin eloquence and castilian eloquence and it's the same. it gets distorted horribly! what i don't understand is why when i put a song or a video on some platform, the voice sounds great, like it should. but when i remove that video, or that song, the voice gets distorted like that again.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and am experiencing the same thing. I don't have any solutions, but I think the issue you are describing is related to how the device processes audio. For me, The "ah hah" moment was when I heard VoiceOver whilst on a FaceTime Audio call and the sound from the speakers was full in all of the ranges.

I have sent a report to Apple's accessibility email, do you think this problem will be fixed? How curious that with the iPhone 12 Pro Max that I have it doesn't happen, and with this new iPhone it does
It would be great if people who have this problem also report it so they can fix it quickly, because it is very frustrating to turn up the volume and have the eloquence sound so horrible

It’s actually been happening ever since I got this phone, but today I decided to try to find other people who had the same issue and I have it as well.

Have you guys tried enabling and/or disabling, the higher sample rate setting for the eloquence voices?
For example, I am using American English voices, Eddie in particular, and I have higher sample rate disabled. Granted I do not have one of the newer iPhone 16, but eloquence sounds amazing per my settings.
So, try either turning that setting on or off, and see how your eloquent voice sounds as you navigate iOS.

Best of luck. :-)

I thought that was going to be the easy solution to my problem but it didn't even change anything.

Then I have to agree with one of the above posters, that it sounds like an audio processing issue on the newer phones. Because on my phone, that setting absolutely changes something. The difference in sound output between the higher rate, and the default rate, is absolutely noticeable.

The change is obvious when you change the sample rate, but the same issue still applies for both of them I should've said.

I still believe this is a processing issue. Has anyone experienced this on a iPhone 15 Pro or earlier model?

Some people who don’t use VoiceOver and just listen to music have had this happen online as well. It’s only with this phone model.

I noticed this as soon as I set up my 16 Pro Max. It's definitely more noticeable using the Eloquence voice, but in general, audio quality on this phone isn't what I would have expected. The exception is listening to any sort of media, then it improves. But even call quality (not speaker, just in a regular call) isn't as good.
