question about the native iOS reminders app

Hi all,

I have an iPhone 16E and I use the reminders app a lot. Most of the time when I hear the alert sound I have set for a reminder voiceover doesn't tell me what the reminder is, and on the rare times it does it reads a previous reminder. Is there something I can change that I can make to make voiceover read the current reminder?

When I put the reminder I use siri to dictate it, and I say remind me to and them say what I want to be reminded of, and siri repeats it back to me. In other words I don't open the app itself.

I’ve seen this before. I think it might be some kind of bug with how it’s categorize the apps or something. What version of iOS are you running? Cause it may be a bug in iOS too.

Sorry I forgot to add that, as the subject says I'm running the latest iOS 26. This has been going on for a while though although I don't remember when it started.

I didn't start using the native app until I bought a new phone about a year and a half ago, the 16E I mentioned, before that I had an SE 2 and I had a different reminders app I was using that I found in the app store that I liked better, but when I changed phones that app didn't work anymore and when I tried to redownload it it wasn't in the app store anymore. I wasn't having this problem with that app though.

Hi Troy and all:
I ask Siri to set a reminder. For example, I'll say, "Set a reminder for November first at 5:00 PM. Give Sheila her heartworm and flea medications." So on November 1, my reminder notification sounds, and I can read it on the Lock Screen and it will say, "Give Sheila her heartworm and flea medications." I've always asked Siri to set reminders and have never had any issues.
