Questions About iPhone 16 (iOS 18.5) After Switching from Android

Hello everyone,

I recently switched from Android to iOS and purchased an iPhone 16. My current iOS version is 18.5, and the part number is CH/A. I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate your help:
1. When VoiceOver is enabled, the notification volume is very low. Even when I increase the volume for ringtones and alerts, it doesn’t change as long as VoiceOver is on. The volume only increases if I turn VoiceOver off. What should I do to fix this?
2. When VoiceOver is enabled and I’m using the Camera app, the shutter sound doesn’t play. I turned VoiceOver off once, and the shutter sound played once, but when I tried testing it again, the shutter sound didn’t play. Could you please provide a solution?
3. I’m looking for an app that allows me to change the audio of a video and use music stored on my device. I tried iMovie, but the video rotates, making it unsuitable for sharing on Instagram.
4. In some apps, multiple options, like several buttons, are displayed on a single line. Is there a way to navigate and interact with such apps using VoiceOver?
Thank you in advance for your responses!

Congratulations on the new phone.

1. You probably only need to turn audio ducking off. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Audio.

I'm not sure about your second and third questions.

4. Yes, you swipe left or right with a single finger to move forward or backward through items on the screen, or you simply move your finger along the row of buttons until you find the one you want, then double tap it.

Generally, you should probably go to Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover, and check out the Voiceover Tutorial, as well as Voiceover Practice.

I'm not sure that it's audio ducking issue. I also recently switched from Android to iOS and have problem similar to 1:
For example, my ringtone volume set to 100%, media volume set to 6%, change with buttons is off, i.e. volume buttons always changes the media volume, not ringtone. But notification sound very quiet, even if screen is locked and VoiceOver speaks nothing. If I turned VoiceOver off, notification sound becomes louder, like ringtone volume. As a result I should either constantly check notification center, or keep media volume at some higher value.
I've tried to enable change with buttons in Sound settings, but nothing changed. Also I tried to completely disable Audio Ducking in VO settings, but it's unrelated, since notification sound binds to media volume even if VO has nothing to say.

VoiceOver uses the media volume setting, so if this is turned down, you may have problems. Also, yes I realize your voice volume may be loud or louder, that's a whole Nother beast.
Just try adjusting your media volume and see how it goes. :-)

into Face Id and Passcode settings, check if the Attention Aware feature is on. Disable it, if that's the case. Similarly, in Voiceover Settings into accessibility, under Audio, set audio ducking to while speaking instead of always.

Regarding the photo click sound, if live photo feature is enabled, there is no sound. On each time basis, it can be disabled in the the camera app itself. Finally, if multiple options are detected in one element, the particular app is not designed as accessible. Voicover's screen recognition feature sometimes may help, sometimes does not.

Hth.

Hello,
I’ve tried all the suggested solutions, but the notification sound issue remains unresolved. The notification volume only returns to normal (like the ringtone volume) when I turn off VoiceOver. I don’t want to increase the media volume because it makes the VoiceOver volume excessively loud. Disabling Audio Ducking also didn’t help, as notifications remain very quiet when VoiceOver is active.
Additionally, regarding Screen Recognition, is there a way to make it detect Arabic text? The apps I’m having accessibility issues with are in Persian, and it seems Screen Recognition doesn’t work well for these languages, so I can’t use this feature to improve accessibility.
Lastly, does anyone have more information or recommendations about video editing with VoiceOver or accessible tools for this purpose? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help!

I've already disabled attention aware, and audio ducking set to while speaking. But all of it doesn't help :(
Core issue not about VoiceOver volume: if I set media volume to, E.G. 6%, VoiceOver will speak quiet and it's expected, since VoiceOver volume bind to media volume. But Problem that notification sound also becomes quiet, i.e. at 6%, which is strange, since notification volume should be same as ringtone volume, not media. And it the same, but only when VoiceOver is turned off.
