to stop voiceover’s loosing focus, turn off caption panel. Use two finger quadruple tap for quick settings, then turn caption panel off.

Think You Mean Turn On, then off

Subject line is pretty accurate. We can't turn off Caption Panel twice, or anything for that matter. Nor can we turn things on and then on again. So I think you mean we should turn on Caption Panel, and then turn it back off once we're done tweaking whatever it is we have to tweak. Just trying to point something out here, lol.

The suggested setting.

Hi Ekej, I will try your suggestion. Because when I went in to these quick setting, caption panel was already off. And I have experienced the voiceover focus issues.

Sadly, I'm noticing focus issues with voiceover while my caption panel's turned off so this is not the issue.
I have tried turning it on then off again with the same results.

I'm still having the focus issues even though Caption Panel is off. Mine has been off for ages.

Possibly depends on Siri voice

Sounds strange. But I believe that it could be dependent on the type of voice over voice. Try using basic Samantha and see if there’s still focus issues.

Still focus issues.

Tried the turn on then off caption pannel. Doesn't seem to help. I was on Amazon yesterday looking around and I was suddenly back at the top of the screen.

What is "caption panel"?

Never heard of this setting. What is it designed to do?

Also, what is the VO focus issue that is being referred to?

Thanks.

Caption panel is a setting in quick settings. I don’t know what it is designed to do. I heard about it on a podcast by Jonathan Mosen, who said turning it off would fix the focus problem. The focus problem occurred for me after I upgraded to iOS 16.3.1. whenever I tried to do something on my iPhone, I would be interrupted, and sent to the top of the screen. Very annoying! Turning caption panel off fixed the problem for me. Not for everyone, though.

Caption panel is primarily used for screen sharing between users or Apple support representatives.
Basically what this does is when you turn on the caption panel, it shares whatever voiceover is saying on the screen.
If caption panel is turned off, when you share your screen, the voiceover descriptions are not being shared, for example, on the phone app, if caption panel is turned off and you share your screen with people, the call button will be labeled with colors instead of the voiceover labels, this also applies to custom labels you have set with apps that are not accessible.
When caption panel is enabled, all voiceover accessibility labels will be shown when sharing screen, this also includes buttons you have labeled for Apps that are not accessible.
When doing a screen recording for Apple accessibility support, always turn the caption panel on, so whatever VoiceOver behavior is happening or whatever buttons that were not labeled properly will be shown in the recordings.
I don’t think caption panel has anything to do with focus issues with voiceover cursor
