I'm looking for any tips anyone might have for properly aligning the camera when using the KNFB app. Ideally, what is the best field report reading? I get the message "no text found" more often than I'd like.
All four edges visible, zero degrees clockwise (or counterclockwise).
Have you tried the various settings for Flash -- Automatic, ON or OFF? Also, are you using the manual setting? Automatic picture-taking isn't fully implemented yet.
I think some of the frailties seen in the KNFB Reader are due to the issues still present in iOS 8.1.1. Of course I have no way to validate but this is my impression for the moment. Time will tell whether or not it's the iOS itself or perhaps the app. Regardless, I'm still thrilled to have it even though I'm receiving the same No Text Found error, too.
Hello, I'm not getting hundred per cent success with KNFB Reader as well. But I'm surely getting better performance with this one than the other scanning and reading apps.
I keep the tilt guidance on. If the vibration is reduced, we are almost focusing it right. Sometimes, the vibration will stop entirely. In such case, we'll be getting good recognition for sure.
Also, if you have a piece of paper, say mail, you put it on the table, put your elbows on the table, lift the phone straight up with your elbows on the table, and that should be high enough to get good results. Also, make sure either you have enough illumination, or the flash set to on. HTH
I have a 5C. Is the camera on the 5 S or the 6 any better? I thought I read somewhere about a camera stabilization feature. A friend has a 6 and doesn't have nearly the problems I have. I ask because I don't think I'm lifting the phone straight up after aligning it with whatever I'm trying to read.
The iPhone 6 has a better camera than does either the 5S or 5C. The 6 plus has a better camera than the straight 6 does. I don't remember the differences between the 6 and 6 plus but I do know that the 6 plus has the best possible camera for now. The 6 plus also has better battery life than the 6 as well.
What I do is put the phone down in the center of the page, then lifted up straight with tilt guidance on, at about 10 inches then you are sure to get the whole page in the picture, if your hand is unsteady it can make this a little tricky if not supported by your elbows on the table But this is definitely the ideal for me
I just got this app today and decided to search for ideas on how to use the KNFB Reader more efficiently and, thanks to you, this should be easier. Thank you all for sharing from your experience.
