Hi,
Yesterday I set up my iPhone 13 as a new device and have the following problem: When I press the side button, I immediately feel the haptic that Face ID has unlocked the device, but I hear the typical sound on the part of VoiceOver only sometimes. If I disable the speech output (double-tap with three fingers), the sound is always there.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!

same here!
i have a faceid iPhone for 4 years. I don't remember, but that didn't seem to be the case with iOS 12. then from iOS 13 on different devices the specific unlock sound had moments when it disappeared. currently on my iPhone 12 with iOS 15.2 behaves the same as yours!
First face ID phone
Hi. Sometimes it will haptick other times it will do that and unlock. Now, if you go silent and press the side button, the sound just about always plays. go figure.
On which phone do you experience this behavior?
Hi Siobhan,
On which phone do you experience this behavior that the sound always appears? Or what did you exactly mean with "go silent"?
go silent
I'm using an iPhone 12 and the sound sometimes appears, or I'll just feel the vibration. I meant if you flip the mute switch down, it will vibrate and then after you lock it, try the face ID unlock. I still wish they'd get rid of the poor quality motors and use the haptick engine because it's much easier to feel then the motor.
