By Dennis Long, 24 July, 2021 Forum iOS and iPadOS Hi, how do I set a custom notification tone for whatsapp notification when I receive a message? Thanks. Options Log in or register to post comments Comments I think you go to Menu, then Notification and then choose the Sound button. Yu can then pick a different Alert tone. Two options Hi Dennis, you've a couple of options. One for all WhatsApp notifications and one for individual chats or groups. For all: Open WhatsApp and go to the Settings tab. Select Notifications. Select Sound and make your choice. For individual chats: Open WhatsApp and open the individual or group chat you want to assign. Select the chat or group name heading at the top of the screen. VoiceOver should say it's a button but does not. Select Wallpaper & Sound. Select Alert tone at the bottom of the next screen and make your choice. HTH, Dave changing message notification sound Can I use my own custom sound or am I stuck using there built in sounds? I've never cared enough to… I've never cared enough to look into it fully but it looks like the sounds on offer are the standard iOS message alert sounds. It's the same list you'll find in the Settings app under Sounds & Haptics. So perhaps if you purchase or import a sound into that, then it will also be available in WhatsApp. It's many years since I've imported a ringtone though, so I can't help you with that. It cost me 0.79 to find out that you cant. WhatsApp only give you the standard list, it doesn't include tones I've purchased.
