Accessible word processer that exports to doc format?

Hey all, I'm thinking about ditching my pc and switching over to mac entirely at home. At school I use jaws with microsoft word. Since microsoft word 2015 or 2014, can't remember witch one I have on mac doesn't work with voiceover, I am unable to use word on mac. Is there a accessible processer that exports to doc format so I can do work then save it into doc format to access it at school? Text edit doesn't work with tables, pages is confusing though i could probably figure it out, and IText express doesn't seem to have doc as an option for format, although it is a pretty simple one to use. Any ideas on the best one to use? If its possible to update msword for free I may think about doing that, but I don't think that's an option, could be wrong though.
