Is the Amazon Kindle app usable?

Hi all.

So a while back I tried signing into Amazon Kindle, and it wanted to protect my account by doing some sort of picture with cars or something. I didn't get round to having my wife take a look at it. Tonight for fun I decided to run it to see if anything had changed.

I get a welcome window, and web content about creating an account or signing in. But I see no way to actually sign in. I did click on sign in and got a thing about how passwords need to be longer than six characters once, but that's about it. I see no way to access settings/preferences, e.g. cmd-comma doesn't do a thing.

If this is actually usable once you sign in I guess at some point I can hook the Mac up to the TV and get my wife to sign in for me. But given the lack of useful accessibility for the sign-in process, I'm pretty skeptical at this point. Is there any reason to keep this around? I think I only bought one or two Kindle books and they were pretty cheap, so if I don't get to use it it's no great loss, I guess I could try it on iOS too. But I'm way more likely to read on the Mac.
