Hi all. when I was showing a relative something, I was shutting down the comp. It restarted automatically. How can I change this? I would love to know if I can change it.
Hello! It's not normal for a Mac computer to automatically restart after it has been shut down. It could be possible that you accidentally chose the "Restart" option instead of "Shutdown." Alternatively, if you inadvertently pressed a keyboard key immediately after the Mac had shut down, it would cause it to restart.
To ensure that you shut down the computer correctly, select "Shutdown" from the Apple menu. If you continue to experience the issue, it may be worth trying to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac. You should be able to find instructions on how to do this via Google.
Also, if you opened the lid, the Mac will turn on automatically. Regarding the SMC on Macs with Apple Silicon, simply restarting it or shutting it down while it is connected to power should reset it.
