Hello everyone and first at all I wish you a very Happy Ney Year.
Some times ago, I could uncompact the compact files with my Mac and with my Iphone too. Now, I tired to do it with 2 different files in zip format, and nor with the Mac either with the Iphone, I cna do it, My mac says that it's not possibile to unzip the file, and Iphone says "Argumet not valide". I'm not sure, but I think that, in the past, when I could do this operation, files were in rar format, and not in zip, I wonder my if this could be the problem, I mean, that Apple allows uncompact rar files but not zip files, or if perhpas the problem is only mine, and thatt it only regards my divices. So, please, I would like to know if you can uncompact zip files with Mac and/or Iphone, or only rar files. I am talking about apple tools, and so, I mean, without install another program as winzip, etc. but only with tools that Apple makes available for us.

Use an app called the unarchiver on amc os. This will unzip files and more just fine. I never use the zip utility that ships with mac os.
you can with an iphone
you can with a phone. use the files app on the phone. Go to the more option on the bottom, & hit it, jhen hit uncompress.
Might be a corrupt file
I don't use Mac but since iOS 13, the iPhone can unzip files just fine through the Files app as the previous poster said. From your description, though, it seems as if there might be something wrong with the actual file itself. Try redownloading it if you can.

If you want to unrar a rar file, you can use an app on the Mac called Keka. It's pretty accessible. I've used all the time.
