Easiest way to create a bootable Flash Drive

Hello AppleVis,
I was curious on if anyone knew a good method to go about creating a bootable flash drive?
I'm needing to have a method of running a few different operating systems, and can't afford VMWare Fusion. I also have a base modeled mac book air, so I do not have much storage.
