Getting to windows using VMware fusion on Mac

Hi, I have just updated VM ware fusion to the latest version of 11.5. usually, I have been able to start windows hit option command F to maximise the window and then alt tab to the VM. This is not working for me now. Does anyone have any ideas. I can hear jaws start up but cannot switch to it. Thanks!

try turning off fast startup using Narrator. failing that, use Bootcamp. that works fine and is not taxing on RAM like fusion.
