Google Drive and Login Keychain

Hello, I’ve updated to Mountain Lion on my Mac Mini Server and now it keeps telling me that Google Drive doesn’t have access to my Login Keychain and if prompted allow it access. It never prompts me and the only choice I have to make the message go away is to tell it to quit Google Drive. Since it doesn’t prompt me where do I go to force it access to the login keychain? Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken, Sounds like maybe you've encountered Apple's enhanced security feature known as "Gatekeeper." Gatekeeper is designed to help prevent maliscious applications from running on your system. Apple has provided two methods to circumvent this particular layer of security in Mountain Lion. Method 1 allows you to handle this issue on a case-by-case basis by doing the following: 1. Select the Google Drives.App item in your Finder. 2. Open the contextual menu by pressing VO+Shift+M. 3. Choose "Open" from the contextual menu. 4. You will be presented with a dialog box that will allow you to run the application, and this will also allow it to run in the future without being prompted. Method 2 is to globally permit any application regardless of origin. 1. Go to System Preferences / Security and Privacy / General. 2. In the section titled "Allow applications downloaded from..." select the radio button for the choice labeled "Anywhere." This is not recommended because it disables Gatekeeper for any application. Hello Bryan and thanks for your response, I followed your instructions in the first option and that didn’t work. I was never presented with a dialog asking me to allow it to run. It just opened a new Finder window with the contents of Google Drive. I was able to locate the Keychain Access feature (Launch Pad>Other Folder>Keychain Access) and found that Google Drive is already there as it should be since I only did an update on the OS. Google Drive is set to launch at system start and ML is somehow blocking it from running. Once the system is booted completely I can access the contents of the drive by going to Applications>Google Drive. This means that the app responsible for syncing files is not able to function because it doesn’t have Login Keychain Access when in fact it really does. Maybe I should delete the Keychain for Google Drive and add it in again manually? If so, can you or anyone give me some insight as to how easy or difficult it is to do? Thanks, Ken
