Hi all.
I've just updated to Mac OS Sierra and am trying to access the new optimised storage options, not because I want to use them, but rather because I want to make sure they are switched off.
I have navigated to the manage storage section in About This Mac, but have not found the options described in mainstream articles about this. All I see is something called Recommended, which I can't seem to do anything with, a list of apps etc on the Mac, and something called System which again I can't seem to do much with.
Can anyone advise where I am going wrong?
Thanks

Configuring Options
Hello,
Here is a detailed guide on turning all these options off. In the About This Mac window, go to the manage section under the storage section. Under the recommendations section, interact with the table and carefully read all the options. If VoiceOver says things like optimize button, turn on button, etc, this means the features should be disabled. If it says complete, you'll need to start turning things off.
To get rid of the iCloud storage issues, go to your iCloud settings under System Preferences. In the table of services, select the options button next to iCloud Drive and make sure the Desktop and Documents Foldercheckbox is unchecked in the applications table. Next, uncheck the checkbox next to the applications table that says Optimize Mac Storage. When you're done, press the done buttton and move to the next group of settings.
In Finder Preferences, make sure the checkbox under Advanced options is unchecked to empty the trash after 30 days. In iTunes, uncheck the box under the advanced section of preferences that says automatically delete watched movies and TV shows.
I think that's about all of the settings. I don't want the computer managing files for me, so I keep all this turned off. If I missed a settings, please let me know.
