Help needed with VoiceOver issue when editing documents

I am having a major issue with my daughters MacBook Air (OS X Yosemite)

Once she opens a document (regardless if it is in texteditor or word) and scrolls down using arrows, VO still reads what was written. However the moment she starts to edit the document, VO stops and I cant get it working again.

I have tried the following (as suggested here):

• VoiceOver will sometimes still treat a press of up or down arrow like moving by character, even though Quick Nav is off. Toggling Quick Nav on and then off again fixes this, and I cannot reliably reproduce it, but it has been a problem since 10.8 or earlier. I have only ever seen it happen while editing text. Note that this is very rare, but it does happen.

However this does not solve the issue.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could assist.

Thanks

Thomas

Try pressing command-shift-W after you open a file that has this problem. This will work in textedit and Pages. The other thing you can do is upgrade that mac to El capitan which seems to help somewhat with this issue although the wrap to window trick is still kinda useful there for more complex documents.

Hi Piotr,

Thanks for your help, this seems to do the trick.

Highly appreciated.

Hi Thomas,

Have you tried turning VoiceOver off and back on again? The keystroke for toggling VoiceOver on and off is command, and function key five.
