index embosser

I am attempting to connect an Index Basic D embosser to my Mac Book Pro. I downloaded the Louis Braille translation software. However, when I try to emboss, I receive a message that the computer does not recognize the embosser. Any suggestions as to how I get the Mac and embosser working together?
