Does anyone know how to turn off Voiceover announcement of the position of the insertion point. Yes, that is useful info when editing, but sometimes Voiceover says it constantly in places where it is completely useless verbosity. I certainly don't want to hear it when reading a webpage with QuickNav on. The feature seems to come and go inexplicabley.

Long-Standing Issue
This issue has been around for a while. It's not as problematic as it was when originally introduced. There's no user control for this that I'm aware of, but that would be a nice enhancement.
Possible fix
I posted the exact same question a little while ago (https://www.applevis.com/forum/macos-mac-apps/stop-telling-me-where-insertion-point#comment-142787) without noticing that it had already been asked here.
I'm not sure if you've found your own solution on here, but I thought I'd post what I said in the above topic.
If you have Verbosity set to Low, go into the custom verbosity table and change the verbosity for "text" to "Medium". From a quick play, this has made no difference to me except it has got rid of the insertion point announcements in Mail. Might be a bit early to say it's definitely fixed everywhere and doesn't introduce new problems, but so far so good.
