By touch in action, 3 October, 2015 Forum macOS and Mac Apps Hello, how do I go about making a bootable dvd of El Capitain for installation. I want to do a clean install and I want to put it on a dvd to keep it for future use. How do I go about building this disc. Thanks very much. Options Log in or register to post comments Comments brief directions I dunno if the following steps will work, plus you need an 8 gig dvd or higher. I recommend a flash disk as the medium is cheaper and faster to use. I discuss this in my book on el capitan released September 30 of this year. Go to this link, and click the working with el capitan link. Basically you will enter this in the terminal. I named the drive untitled for easier typing. sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app –nointeraction Enter in your admin password and good luck. If you want to know what else I discuss in my book fell free to go to that page and glance at the TOC. Disk Maker X There's also a program called Disk Maker X that should do the same thing. Here's the link. http://diskmakerx.com
