Murging cells of the table in pages app for mac?

Hello everyone.
I am not sure if I am calling it correctly in English, but I am trying to murge 2 cells in the pages table using VoiceOver on mac.
The question is how do i select the cells for murging?
When I press option+shift+left/right arrows I get the new cell next to the current one. And the murge cells option in the context menu of the table isn't available for accessing.
How should I murge, connect cells of table in pages text editor with VoiceOver? I am using macbook air 2017 with macOS Catalina installed...
