Simplest formatting question on Pages for Mac

All I want is to write documents that are double-spaced with the first line of each paragraph indented a reasonable amount. Like, say, for a nice story. Nothing more and nothing less. If there's a preset format for doing this, I cannot fine it.
I don't want to futz with this, that, the other thing. Why is this so difficult?

I don't care about headers and footers and special characters and blah blah blah.
I want to write a paragraph, then another, and another after that, knowing that each is indented.
That's it.
Am I stupid? Am I missing something?
