Hi,
The subject says it all. Is there a way to do this via Apple Scripting or Shortcuts? I want to press a key, type a word to look up, and then press enter and have it spoken to me without having to navigate the dictionary interface. I tried looking at a shortcut to define words, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to speak the resulting definition afterwords, only the word I typed in, and it still opened Dictionary where I had to manually navigate.

Doable with shortcuts on macOS
I got this information from the AI results from a Google inquiry.
1. Open Shortcuts, and click on add.
2. Add Get Selected Text: This action retrieves the text that is currently selected in any application.
3. Add Look Up in Dictionary: This action looks up the selected text in the built-in macOS dictionary.
4. Add Speak Text: This action speaks the text provided as input, using the macOS text-to-speech engine.
5. Configure Speak Text: Select the variable used text to speech.
6. Name and Save your shortcut.
What the shortcut does:
This shortcut will read aloud using TTS, the definition of any highlighted word when activated.
