User Authentication Issue in the latest Mac OS

macOS and Mac Apps

So, I am having an interesting problem with my mac, and it seems to have started when I upgraded to the latest version of OSX. I am running a macbook pro late 2012 model. Normally, I like to put my mac to sleep when I'm not using it, just by closing the lid. Lately, however, when I open the lid to wake it up, I get no speech. I type in my password like I normally would, and then Voiceover just keeps saying "Authentication busy." The only way I can see to get around this is to completely force my mac to restart by using CMD control power button. This is super annoying. I have to do it every day, and it feels like I'm running a windows computer. Speaking of windows, I am not running a duel system. It is all Mac.
Has anyone else at all experienced this problem, and if so, is there a way to fix it, other than restarting my system every time? O yes, I have ran the disk utility, and it reports that my system is just fine, and no errors on the disk. Thanks.

Well, since your mac is 4 years old, something might be dying. First though try just pressing the track pad to make sure you are in focus. Something though is hanging. Did you try doing a clean install of the os to make sure all the yuck disappeared?

I have tried touching the trackpad, but have not tried installing a clean copy of the OS. I was hoping to avoid that if at all possible, but it's worth looking into, probably sooner than later unfortunately. Thanks.

Actually I meant press the track pad until you hear and feel a click. This is what I meant by pressing the track pad. Sorry about that. I also think that your system is just getting old and yelling at you.

Take care and be blessed.
