Using iBooks with Voiceover on Mack?

Hi. Io was wondering how to navigate iBooks using VO? When I try to scroll with the arrow keys, the page just scrolls and nothing happens. Using the VO keys and the arrow keys works. I would like to use the arrow keys to navigate a book.
