Virtual Bluetooth for a Mid Mack Mini 2010

Hello all!

I recently got a Mack Mini given to me a few months ago. I upgraded the memory to it's max that it would allow. This has bluetooth capabilities but, they don't work. It seems in order to use them, you must have a later version of the Mack Mini computer. Is there something that is a software based program for the Mack that would act as a bluetooth app?
I have the hardware but, when I try to run my appleTV on airplay, it's to old. If there is an alternative besides getting a third party piece of hardware, that would be great. I have spoken to Apple about this and of course, they have informed me that going third party might not be a good idea.

Thanks for any help.
