Hi folks.

I'm really hoping you'll instantly tell me about your favorite third party email app for MacOS. Why?

Today, my computer tech told me that the native Apple mail app on my Mac Studio Ventura has developed a problem that is so severe, he thinks I should erase everything off my hard drive and start over from scratch, or, install a third party mail app and use it instead. Hence, this desperate post.

I have 4 mail accounts, two for a local email provider, plus one each with icloud and gmail.

Please tell you which third party email apps you heartily recommend I install? Please please please?

Smile. Thank you!

Bruce

I don't have a Mac to test these, but you might want to look at Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.

If you tell us the problem then we may help you. The Mail app on the Mac is a solid one, I do not think how or why it can severely break!

What is the issue? I find it hard to believe it is that bad.

Thank you for responding.

The issue is that my email don't get sent. It seems as if they are sent, but a few moments later an error message pops up, which in pertinent part states:

Sending from: Bruce Harrell <[email protected]>
Sending the message content to the server failed.
The server response was: <END-OF-MESSAGE>: End-of-data rejected: user smtprelay service AUP suspended

I am also hearing from people and businesses who have tried to contact me that their emails to me are returning to them as undeliverable.

My email provider tech gave me the corrections to make to my email account settings in my Mac, but when I made those changes, my Mac refused to save them. After that, the tech told me to contact a private tech to get further assistance.

Yesterday, the private techexamined my Mac and told me he recommended I wipe my Mac and start over from scratch, explaining there is some sort of code buried in my emails that he cannot remove that is causing the problem. He suggested an alternative that may or may not work, which is to installl a third party email client. I would rather do the client than the total wipe, for obvious reasons.

I hope this helps.

Thank you again!

Bruce

You or your technician may have already tried this, but if the issue lies with the Mail app, deleting and readding your accounts can sometimes resolve data corruption errors. Any data that is on the accounts' respective servers will not be affected by this action.

Another thing you could possibly try if not tried already is to reinstall macOS while keeping your data intact. If the issue involves corruption of code in the Mail app, rather than user files, reinstalling the operating system may resolve the issue.

Agree with Tyler. Those would be the steps I would suggest you try as well, before completely wiping your Mac.

In the Mail client, delete your account. Then re-create it.

I recently added a second account to my Mac Mail client. It wasn't one of the precooked standard solutions, in other words, I had to select "Other Mail Account" from the list of account types. You'll probably have to do the same.

After you complete the account setup, it'll test the server connection. For me, it failed, and it was because I had selected TSL. When I backed off to SSL, everything worked like a champ.

Email is a headache. Good luck. Keep us posted.
