Working with MarsEdit and Wordpress website

Hi, all. Would anyone be willing to help me sort out why I am unable to post new pages to my Wordpress website using MarsEdit? I'm running Yosemite and the latest version of MarsEdit. I've been successful in editing pages, but not adding new ones. Since I'm new at this, I'm sure there's some user error on my part. Just to be sure, though, I've been emailing Daniel at MarsEdit and he suggested that by the error log I sent him from MarsEdit, he thought there might be a problem with my server and to contact my hosting company. They disabled the Wordpress plug-ins to see if this would help. I'm no longer getting an error message when trying to update pages or add pages. However, I'm still having difficulty adding pages. I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong and fear I don't know enough to be very helpful. Thanks for reading and for any help you can give.

Hi. Here's an update to my question a few days ago. I was getting an error message while trying to post to one of my websites. It turns out that the Wordpress Spam Shield plug-in was blocking MarsEdit. I called my web hosting company and they took action at my request. All plug-ins were turned off so that we could figure out which one was the culprit. Then, I could post. However, my web designer was rightly concerned that some security plug-ins were turned off. So, we met on the phone this evening. It was really neat to be on the phone and quickly post a test page to my site, hear that it went through, and then delete the page. It was very simple--much more so than I thought. Test page 4, however, yielded the error message that I was not able to post to the site. This was the plug-in she thought would be the issue. I have a suitable alternative in place, not as hefty, but still very protective. I promptly wrote Red Sweater software to let them know which plug-in was causing the issue. Curiously, I could post to my other website with no problem. That particular plug-in does not happen to be installed there. :)

I bought the app a year ago. Now the rich text editor is useless. I have never been able to add a page to wordpress using mars edit. I complement you on your problem solving. It seems like a big hassle to me. I am disappointed in the app. any time there is a problem it's Apple's falt or someone else's. sorry for being negative. This has been my experience. Good luck

Hi. I am sorry to hear that it has been frustrating for you. What version of the Mac OS are you running? The developer of MarsEdit tels me there are some problems with the rich text editor and Sierra which he hopes are resolved in the next OS. I'm running Yosemite and not anxious to upgrade to Sierra for this reason.

I was using Sierra when I first started with Mars Edit. It was after one of the updates that things changed. Daniel is hoping that the next operating system will be substantially better. Other than this, he has offered me a refund. I have opted to hold out until the next O.S.. It is an imperfect world I'd say.

Hi. I wonder if youwould mind letting me know if there is an improvement with MarsEdit after the new operating system is released? I am not upgrading my Mac for this reason. It is so seamless and easy to post to my site now that I do not want to ruin a good thing. It would be great if anyone using MarsEdit with their Wordpress blog ort site could report in on this. Or, at least, how well the rich text editor works with their blog or website, whether it is Wordpress or not. I would very much appreciate it.

To the originator of this post, Chris, thank you! You saved the day by helping me determine why my hosted Wordpress wasn't connecting to mars edit 4. I deleted the anti spam and now Im able to login!
