Writing IPA symbols on the macbook

macOS and Mac Apps

Hello, I was wondering if anybody here had any knowledge of how to insert IPA symbols on the macbook. I'm taking an English and Italian diction class next semester in college, and I need to be able to write in IPA. I've been looking online, and I found this free software, or what I thought was a software, called CharSIL, but when I opened the folder in my downloads, it was all weird images. I couldn't find anything on how to write IPA symbols with pages either. Also, if anyone knows if there's an accessible app for writing IPA on IOS, that would be great. I found a few promising results on the app store, but I don't really want to waste my time and money on something inaccessible. So if anyone knows about this, please let me know. Thank you.
