looking for help with iBooks in El Capitan

I've tried reading three books in iBooks in two user accounts. I cannot get any of the books to read in either account. When I try and select a chapter from the table of contents, something I did all the time in Yosemite, iBooks freezes and VoiceOver keeps saying busy. If it starts working again, which is rare, I'm reading at the place I was before. I cannot go to another chapter.

I'd appreciate it if others could test this. I used to use iBooks a lot. So, I'd like to figure out if this is a VoiceOver problem, an El Capitan problem, or a problem that is not common but one that I have. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Yeah, I have this problem too, in my case the page numbers don't seem to match up, my bookmarks aren't transferring over, and when I press vo A to start reading it goes to the beginning of the chapter even if I get to the right page by searching for it
