I've been using Windows7 with JAWS 13 for a few years now and want to migrate to Mac. I'm using Mountain Lion and have an iPhone and also have VMFusion. What is the best way to get started and set up my Mac with Voice Over with recommended settings? I am also looking to set up Windows with VMFusion. Key mapping between both OS' would be great as well. Also, how can I easily use JAWS on the Windows side? Sometimes Voice Over also talks over JAWS on the Windows side. How do I set up a JAWS key? Thank you so much for your help, I look forward to participating in this forum and contributing what I can. Kindest Regards.

Hello, I am a new mac user too but have not put fusion on mine yet. I am trying to work with bootcamp but having problems figuring when I can press the arrow key twice to move to the windows side in order to boot in there. As for recommended settings for voiceover I think you may find that most of the out of the box settings work well.

I found the map podcast for making the caps lock the jaws key and vo key. I am completely Blind and new to this. I can still do just about anything in construction but find this much more exciting. I am very Proud to be part of this Awesome community! please help me to put my best foot forward each day. Should I do the VM Fusion upgrade? I never touched a keyboard before losing my sight. so some questions may be out there a bit. sorry! Kind Regards, Mickey

Hi Mickey. Welcome, and i hope i can help out a little. I would recommend using vmware fusion if you have 8 gb ram or more. I had four and it was decent but not too great of an experience. I run fusion version 5 and it runs almost natively. I did install the vo to capslock and this does help very much. Let me know if you need more assistance and I'd be more then willing to help.

Hello all, I, too, am a new Mac user but, I am even more of a novice. I grasp the concept of the VM Fusion but, am not sure of how to do it. Is there a web site to learn about this and how to do it? Also, is there a web site with the information to change the VO key the ohe caps lock key? Thanks. Jon

help with drag and drop

Hi folks, I am reading the mac quick start guide and trying to get the hang of drag and drop as a file movement option. I keep thinking I am doing all the steps right but many time get the message "marked item is no longer visible." I am sure it is something related to not having both windows on the screen at the same time, the source window and target. Any suggestions would be of help. thanks in advance.

Drag and drop buggy in mountain Lion Hi there! Is your Mac running mountain lion? I've experienced a lot of broken drag and drop operations. So it might not be you after all. But once it's unbroken, drag and drop is most useful for moving applications and folders into and out of your dock. And I just asked a sighted person, and yes, both windows have to be visible on the screen when moving a file that way. This feature was always a mystery to me in windows, so I'm so happy I can actually do it now. When it works. :) hope I could answer your question. As a side note, voiceover makes a neat little sound when an item is moving, so you get the impression that it actually is moving.

Hi, You might be able to go to an Apple store, or another store that sells Max, and try them out. I would suggest listening to podcasts beforehand, as a lot of times the sales people don't understand voiceover or know how it works. Bringing a set of earphones with you might also help, as you can hear voice over better in the store. But yes, you can often try a Mac before you buy one. Hope this helps.
