Talking Thermastats revisited

Hello AppleVis community,
I am sorry for posting on this again, but at my house we have ran into a bit of a problem. We ordered a VIP 3000, and we installed it. Well, I didn't install it, but someone that our cousin knows installed it. The problem is that when we installed it, it clicks like it is going to turn on the unit, but the air never turns on. We had an HVAC provider come out, and he tested the 4 wires that fire when commands are sent to the air unit. All for conections work. Now, I am in the process of communicating with Harry from the Ezra group, but the HVAC provider thinks that the unit is defective. If we do get another unit, and try it, and it does not work, do you guys have any other models that are accessible, whether or not they are normal, or are able to be controlled with your phone?
Also, if anyone has had that problem before, please let me know some tips on how to resolve it.
Thanks so much!
Darrell

Hmm. Interesting. So, the relay clicks, but the heat/air units don't start. It sounds like the unit might be defective, or you don't have the right unit for the air conditioner or heater. From what I've read, you have to teeter the units to each other. What i mean is that say you have a heat pump, then you have to get this certain model. If you have a single stage air con or furnace units, then get this. ETC. I am not exactly sure about the nest thermostats if they are usable, but from what i've seen online, they look like a pretty good option.

Hello,

If the old thermostat worked prior to the replacement, either the wiring is incorrect or the unit is the wrong type for your HVAC or the thermostat is defective. I’m sure the HVAC person you hired can figure it out.

Another thermostat you can check out is the Pro1 I series. While the actual thermostat that mounts on the wall is not accessable, the app installed on your iPhone or iPad is. And for the sighted folks in your household, the thermostat is big and easy to read.

HTH and good luck.

Well, Can you give me of the Pro I series that would work for us? They have what seem to be over 100 listed.
Thanks,
Darrell

Hello,

I recommend the Pro1 T855i. Very flexable and very easy to use. I found the best price at Amazon.

You can download the app now but it won’t work until it’s setup with the thermostat. It’s nice because it uses wifi instead of BT.

HTH and good luck.
