Hi all,
Hi all,
When checking for updates on my new glasses I go under the devices tab in the meta AI app and find the glasses and tap on them but the updates button is grayed out although it responds when I double tap, but the first thing I hear after double tapping updates is that the device isn't connected. The glasses are turned on however, and I have the phone in my hand and I have the glasses on. Is this another case when the glasses need to be inside the case like when I was trying to connect them to bluetooth? It took me a few days to figure that out. If this isn't the problem how do I check for updates?

You basically have to pair…
You basically have to pair them with your home Wi-Fi. Do this by:
1. Tapping on the devices tab, of the Meta AI app on your smart phone.
2. On the Settings screen, tapping on the button labeled with the name of your smart glasses, eye. E. Skylar Ray-Bans, etc.
3. Clicking on the Wi-Fi button.
4. Finally clicking on "add a network" button.
Sorry but you do not need Wi Fi connection to update the glasses
You do not need Wi fi connection to update the glasses firmware.
First unfold the glasses and put it in your head and wait couple minutes to be connected.
When the glasses remain in the case, are in a hybrid status to save battery and recharge at the same time, which is why shows not connected.
Second from Meta AI, select devices tap, glasses settings, updates, and check for updates manually.
third when the firmware update shows put back the glasses inside the case and do the rest.
The WiFi connection helps only to do automatic updates.
didn't work
Brian,
When I followed your instructions, once I got to the wifi button and hit it I basicly got the same screen as I got when I hit the updates button.
First I hear device not connected heading, then as I swipe right I hear your device needs to be connected to turn on this feature. Be sure your device is charged, turned on, and nearby. Then there's an okay button and when I hit that I get taken back to the settings screen. Is this something else, like the bluetooth pairing, where the glasses need to be in the case?
Possibly
You can try Mark Sarch's way, and see if that works for you. I did not realize that doing it my way was only for auto updates, I was under the impression that was how you updated the glasses, period.
Is your glasses paired with…
Is your glasses paired with your phone? See if Bluetooth is turned on?
bluetooth
I believe so, once I turn the glasses on voiceover comes through the glasses.
reboot and see if that'll fix
Try rebooting the glasses? It's that switch on the inner part of the left arm close to the glasses. You can either do it from there or from within the app itself.
