Hi.
So we, just were given this as a gift. A Samsung smart tv.
I don't have any problem with the fundamentals of a tv ui, or the screen reader, or the navigation. I'd honestly give Samsung a 10 out of 10, it's good! Cause the first setup was done in family I don't know if the onboarding is 100% accessible, but in any case my sister registered my Samsung account on my iphone in Smart Things. Everything is fine, voice guide enabled.
But how the heck can I stop the autoplay of a random tv show thing even after reboot of the tv? The pause button obviously doesn't work hence me asking here. Thanks god that the default of this sr are quite good as we have audio ducking so I still can use it, but this is so frustrating, I've tried everything and just can't pause this thing. Muting mutes everything including the screen reader. Plus probably because of software error of to many things trying to control the tv at once or a user error the remote got unpaired so I'm stuck using explore by touch in Smart things to press on the simulated buttons. I enabled the accessibility mode and didn't really like it for my current needs so disabled it (this isn't the same as Voice guide).
Any help, please, will be greatly appreciated and will prevent me from unjustified anger at my new forcefully given :) expensive tech toy.
Aside this? Samsung, I saw the apple tv, and I much prefer yours, at least it's not just a box. Granted we're the worst clients for a smart tv as a family as we'd be happier with a tv grade monitor on a connected with a real computer on windows, but anyways.

Seeking clarification
When you say auto playback of a video, do you mean while on your home screen? Or do you mean if you're actually playing a TV show or a movie or whatever, you can't pause that?
I asked because, as someone who's got a fire stick device, there's actually an option under settings, that allows us to have those little Video attraction screens (apologies, gaming term reference) either auto play with full audio and video, autoplay with video only, or not auto play at all.
Just wondering if your TV has something like that as well?
HTH.
Everywhere
Less than a second after full reboot of the tv a random show automatically starts playing in virtually all screens and can't find a way to turn it off.
Thanks!! :)
Weird
That sounds kind of like an autoplay of an "up next "feature, for lack of a better description. You may need help getting into settings, if the media is still playing while you're there, otherwise that's what I would recommend, digging through the settings and see if there's any way to turn off anything like this.
The remote was working
Just not the right one if you get what I mean 😂
I am amazed by the experience so far. Granted, I haven<t done much aside moving in the surface UI of everything, but the screen reader is nice!
Better than my 10 minutes experience with Apple TV. Or I just understand TV screen reader UI better now.
Re: Samsung Screen Reader
I bought a Samsung TV a few years ago after reading that they had partnered with RNIB. I couldn't try the screen reader in the shop because they weren't able to change settings. However, it was pretty terrible once I got it home. The biggest problem was how unbearably horrible the voice was to listen to. It is without a doubt the worst TTS I've ever had to put up with. The other thing I didn't like was the remote - there are about a billion buttons and I can never quite find where the directional buttons are despite the little raised knobbly bit. So I switched it off altogether and used a Fire TV for a bit, and now Apple TV. Both of those are so much nicer to use. The Apple TV isn't perfect but is working well for me now.
So I'm guessing from what you say that the newer Samsung TVs are better? Either that or your pain threshold is much higher than mine.
I think I know what you mean about the content playing. Every now and again mrs grieves tries to use the Samsung remote and gets stuck on some weird channel that we don't know what it is. But it's not happened for a long time and I just blamed it on user error. (Whilst standing at a safe distance of course.)
Not that bad so far
I don't know, the voice is slow but 1 I haven't explored the settings yet, 2 it's not as bad as SVox for example so very easy to hear.
It seems to be quite good so far.
