Hey Siri on Apple Watch series 7 running watchOS 8.4.

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

Hello,

In December I upgraded from an Apple Watch series 2 to a series 7 GPS model.

Everything works fine appart from the fact that I am unable to get “Hey Siri” to work.

I know the watch has internet connectivity when out of range of my iPhone 12 Pro Max or when the iPhone is powered down as pressing the Digital Crown on the Watch Siri responds as you would expect. I can stream media too so the watch is definitely connected to the outside world.

I have checked in the Watch App and on the watch itself and “Listen for hey Siri” is enabled.

I remember in early versions of iOS15 there were problems when Voiceover was running and wonder if a similar issue exists in Watch OS.

The watch has been setup as a new device and even updating to watchOS 8.4 Hey Siri still does not work. The microphone on the watch works fine, I can make and receive calls, record audio and the Noise App detects loud environments.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? If so have you resolved it and if so how please?

Thanks.
