Hello everyone.
In this post, I’d like to present a project I've been working on for a while: a GitHub assistant that is accessible for blind users and that allows you to use GitHub not through the command prompt, but via a more user-friendly graphical interface.
The program has been tested on Windows, but if there is demand, it can also be compiled for Mac and Linux.
Translations for the most commonly used languages have already been included. The program will automatically detect the user's language and display messages accordingly.
You can find the release 1.0 directly here: https://github.com/Ambro86/Accessible-github-assistant-in-wxpython/releases/tag/V1.0
To use it, just copy the file `assistente_git-1.0.exe` into a folder that is recognized as a system path by your operating system. You can also rename the file for your convenience. go to your GitHub project folder (or even an empty folder if you want to create a new project), press **F4**, type `assistente_github` (or even just `assistente`) and hit Enter.
The program will open with the folder already correctly set.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Here is the project link:

Much needed
Thanks so much for this! I always go to GitHub to find power shell or command prompt scripts that in one single fell swoop can remove all kinds of bloatwear, both Microsoft or non-Microsoft, on my windows computers. Notoriously, Microsoft keeps pushing updates And reinstall at some bloatwear and undo my administrator level settings on my personal computers where I may have disabled windows firewalls or defenders etc. Then I always have to revisit get hub and repeat the aforementioned scripts to remove bloatwear just to maintain my computer. I will be trying out this accessible user interface very soon Because get hub pages are just so tedious to navigate with screen readers.
Thanks
I find github a pretty infuriating site to navigate, so any help is very much appreciated.
I downloaded the Mac but it didn't want to open it. I know I've got to persuade it that it's ok to open but I've somewhat run out of steam for the day so will probably give it a google tomorrow.
Just wanted to thank you for sharing this and will give more feedback when I'm less zombie-brained.
Opening apps from unidentified developers on macOS
If I'm understanding the issue correctly, it sounds like macOS isn't allowing the app to open because it's from an unidentified developer. To allow the app to open, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security, and click the "Open anyway" button to the right of the app's name, located under the "security" heading.

@tyler
Yes that was exactly it - thank you.
Why not.
Why not.
Unknown developer.
Yes, this “unknown developer” thing on Mac is a security measure on one hand, but for an open project on GitHub that anyone can inspect, it can be overlooked. I’d like to get feedback from anyone testing my program on Mac or Linux, and on Windows as well, of course. An update that will allow handling even more features is coming soon!
Guide to open the Github Assistant App.

(This opens the context menu. "VO" = Control + Option.)

4.
When the system alert appears:
•
Use VO + Right Arrow to find the "Open" button.

The app will now be trusted and can be opened normally in the future.
