AppleVis Extra 78: Recapping Apple's "Hi, Speed" Event
By AppleVis, 14 October, 2020
In this edition of the AppleVis Extra, Dave Nason, Scott Davert, Thomas Domville, & Tyler Stephen get together to discuss Apple's Hi, Speed October 2020 event.
I have been thinking about purchasing the SE2020 because of the smaller size and price tag. However, I listened to Extra 78 yesterday and heard Scott say that the phone had terrible battery life. I know that mileage varies according to usage, as well as other factors. But how bad is the battery life? Does it even last an entire day? I use my phone a lot during the day and would like some advice regarding this before I make a purchasing decision. Thanks for all of your podcasts and hard work on this site.
Well I just pre-order my 12 pro from Verizon. This time I got the pro and not the pro max. Hope is better than my 11 pro max. Is going to someone for Christmas.
As I am not Scott so I can't answer of why he thought the battery life wasn't very good on the new iPhone SE 2020. In what I have seen and heard is that I think some people were hoping that the iPhone SE 2020 would get the battery size and longevity of with the newer models like the iPhone 10r and 11. However, that wasn't the case. The iPhone Se 2020 received the same battery as you would find in the iPhone 8. It packs with a 1821mah battery. Which is significantly smaller than the 10r and 11. For being a device that was mostly of the innards of the iPhone 11 it certainly didn't take the battery with the new SE 2020. I believe that is where people were disappointed. In having the smaller battery in the iPhone SE 2020 it doesn't last nearly as long as the newer devices did. However, it does last longer in the iPhone SE 2020 over the iPhone 8 even with the exact same battery size. In the end we have to understand that these iPhone SE 2020 is a budget phone and I didn't expect Apple to pack the phone with a much larger battery like that are found in the 10r and the 11 models. I'd imagine that is part of trying to keep the cost low but I still think the iPhone SE 2020 is an awesome bargain for the price. If battery is a concern and you are a hard user on a phone meaning if you are consistently seeing very low battery percentage at the end of the day. Then perhaps finding bargains on the iPhone 11 as the 12 start to come in isn't a bad idea to seek for instead. It really comes down to personal preferences and what you will be happy with.
