Widget Baby: Interactive Virtual Baby Fun

By AppleVis, 1 October, 2023

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

In this episode, Ida gives us an in-depth look at the iOS app Widget Baby.

In Widget Baby you can adopt and take care of a cute digital companion. The app allows you to track the widget baby's health stats, provide food, sleep, soothing, and diaper changes as needed. You can play mini-games together with your widget baby and climb leaderboards. The widget baby will grow over time and have new stories and adventures to share. You can customize the widget baby's home and collect supplies to keep them healthy. Additional subscription features include capturing augmented reality memories, linking with friends to care for the same widget baby, and sending the widget baby on unique escapes. Widget Baby aims to be a fun, interactive app for users who enjoy virtual baby games.

Can't get past the first screen

By KE8UPE on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 20:23

Good morning,
I'm unable to get past the very first screen in this app, which is where it has you accept the terms of use & privacy policy.
I installed the game after listening to the podcast.
Does anyone know how to get past this initial screen?

I don’t have the app but

Perhaps you could go into your Settings app and see if you can change or accept privacy settings from there.

Yay somebody finally made a podcast on one of these! Podcast demos are a big step in me deciding whether I want it or not. So far, seems at least a little better then Baby Adopter, which I got, got extremely bored by and deleted. Thank you so much Ida for recording this

Great podcast

By Ornella on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 20:23

I like the podcast but I don't think I will get the app. I also like games with sound effects and other things to do but if you have to do some things and then put down the phone and wait like baby adopter its not my kind of thing. I like to play till I get tired and then pick it back up again. I also haven't done a podcast in about 5 years or so and I was going to do bitlife but how they changed their layout and the game jumps around and sends you crazy, I would rather play than do a review on it for now unless if they make some changes because I will have to do lots of editting which I don't want to do. I liked the old way better.

how to get past the first screen

By Ida Grace on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 20:23

For the person who was wondering how to get past the first screen, I agree. It's a little nuts. It will not let you hit "agree" right away. But, who wants to read the boring privacy and terms of service? The way I went around this is, I went into each of the screens for privacy and terms. Then I went down to the vertical scroll bar and scrolled it up and down a few times to make it seem like I was scrolling through the documents like it tells me to. Then I wait a few minutes on the screen, without actually reading anything, then I hit "agree" again, and it seemed to work well. Oh, we've got to outsmart a machine every once in a while, right?

Good one Ida

Good idea the next time someone decides they want to make you read it instead of clicking right past it like I usually do, I'll make sure to remember that

That worked

By KE8UPE on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 20:23

Good morning,
The suggestion Ida gave above, worked for me.
In addition, once I did as she suggested, another agree, button came up, which I had to click, then it let me play the game. It even let me name my first WidgetBaby.

Nice game

By Fluffymaster on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 20:23

this game is really awesome. I’ve got past the privacy screen with some sided help. I like how the baby tells me different things, and that the developers added alternative text to the actions that the babies are doing, or showing. The only thing that bugged me was that I can run out of care, actions, and watching an ad to earn more doesn’t really help because the close button for the ad is never there. but to solve the problem, I just purchased the ultimate bundle for three euros in the German App Store, which gives you unlimited care, actions, and 1000 widget coins, and also removes the ads as far as understood.

privacy screen and more.

By Ida Grace on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 20:23

I am very glad that my suggestion worked for you to get past the privacy screen. As far as the ultimate bundle, it gives you unlimited care actions, 1000 widget baby coins, and removes all ads! Yay!

This game is pretty cool

By Naza on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - 20:23

I had stopped playing this game for a while because I got kind of bored, but after listening to the podcast I just re-downloaded the game, now I have a baby boy, I named him Fred after Fred Weasley from the Harry Potter series! Ha ha my baby boy is pretty adorable he is one day old now, I do wish the game would have sound effects though, I wish that a lot, actually ☺️

anything new in this game?

By treky fan on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - 20:23

I played this game about a year ago, but quickly grew bored with it because of the serious lack of care actions and stuff you could do with your baby in general. Have they added anything new that would make this game worth trying again?

new features in widget baby

By Ida Grace on Friday, May 10, 2024 - 20:23

I do not know what features they had a year ago, but the care actions are food, soothe, sleep, change, and toys. There are no sound effects, and you have to purchase the ad-free upgrade to never run out of care actions, but that's it.
