Voice Dream Writer Promo Code Giveaway

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

The developer of Voice Dream Writer, a new and innovative writing app for people with print disabilities, has graciously given the AppleVis community a limited number of promo codes for the app. Voice Dream Writer was released on January 21, 2015, and it currently costs $9.99.

While there are many text editors available on iOS, Voice Dream Writer is unique in that it was designed specifically for blind and print-disabled users. Below is an excerpt from Voice Dream Writer’s App Store description:

Voice Dream Writer helps everyone write better: Text-to-speech proofreading reduces mistakes, phonetic and meaning search help you find the right words, and an active outline improves the structure of your writing.

Text-To-Speech Proofreading. Professional proofreaders recommend reading out loud as the best way to catch mistakes. Like a personal proofreader, Voice Dream Writer reads your writing using text-to-speech, so you can easily spot awkward sentences, grammatical errors and typos. Also, it can read words and sentences as you type or voice dictate. This way, you can type faster because you no longer have to look up to check the text you just wrote.

Word Finder. Voice Dream Writer helps you find the right words using phonetic search and meaning search. For example, search for "inuf" phonetically, and you will find "enough", and search for "Fast Africa Cat" by meaning and you will find "Cheetah." Word Finder also shows you the dictionary definition of a word as you type without you having to select anything or open another program.

Outline. As you write, Voice Dream Writer automatically creates an outline of headings, paragraphs and sentences. The Outline helps you structure your document better by giving you an always-on overview. You can also quickly navigate to a section in a long document without endless scrolling. Finally, you can drag and drop elements in the Outline to organize your writing. No more selecting, cutting and pasting large blocks of text.

To enter to win one of the promo codes, please post a comment on this page and explain how you could benefit from using Voice Dream Writer.

Voice Dream Writer Promo Code Giveaway

I'm a voice dream reader user. I was in search of a good app for typing and haven't found anything nice after fleksy vo. I was impressed with voicedreamreader and I believe it'd be the same with full accessibility. My twitter name is:

My uses

I'd use this app during my classes. We are able to use our phones to improve our writing and correct mistakes. We're also able to submit assignments electronically, so using my phone to complete the assignment using an app built with VoiceOver in mind, then turning it in with the submission app would be a nice change. Right now, I still transfer my papers back and forth between my iPhone and laptop to use multiple word processors on it to get the best paper possible. I'm familiar with using Pages by Apple, but some features are difficult to use with VoiceOver. My Twitter name is

Thanks for considering

Never tired either one.

I always see the app Voice dream reader, so if I am allowed to win one, I'll be sure to use it to the fullest of it's capabilities. However if i'm not, good luck. I do hope i win though. :) I never did try the other app, is what I meant to say when I started this comment. If I win, if I don't, good luck to everyone. :)

VoiceDream Writer, Please?

What a great idea for an app. I'm a frequent VoiceDream Reader user and applaud the developers for their commitment to improving the lives of those who can't read regular print. As a college student with lots of papers coming up, I think VoiceDream Writer would be an invaluable tool for working and revising on the go. I'm especially glad it works with Dropbox, will make it so much easier to work on projects with multiple devices. Hope I win. My Twitter username's Thanks.

I wonder if this app could be

I wonder if this app could be used as a note taker device, that is, take notes in class and organize your phrases? I'm not in school right now, but just voicing my thoughts.

Keep it up.

Good luck to all.

This app sounds like it would be very useful for me, especially in my Business Communications class! It mainly focuses on preparing different types of business letters, as well as proofreading and looking for grammatical errors. My twitter user name is charmarie.

At Work, and Play

I would use this app to write documents at work. i have to write proposals, and documentation. I would like to be able to do this efficiently on my phone, rather than have to lug a computer in order to have access to accessible advanced document creation tools.

At home, I write music. I can see this as a great tool for working on song lyrics by keeping things organized, and perhaps with the unique search features, helping with ideas.

Thanks to the developer for the app, and the chance to win a copy.

Even if I don't win, I'm still buying this bad boy! :-)

Hey y'all. First off, I want to take the time to thank Vincent the app developer for building such wonderful and intuitive software. I use reader all the time and I'm super pumped to try writer. As a songwriter. I'm always dictating ideas or jotting down little notes and it gets extremely frustrating trying to use the built-in copy and paste features of iOS. I'm also excited about the word find And proofReading features as well as the ingenious Way they've implemented spellcheck.. I've been holding off on updating to iOS eight because I've heard so much about all the bugs, but with the release of this app, I simply have no choice. it's hard to say no to an application that promotes ease-of-use and is built with excess ability in mind. I suppose that's enough buttkissing for one post. :-) My Twitter name is

From the description of this app, it sounds like it is just as good as Voice Dream Reader, which I use every day while eating lunch at work and while winding down at the end of my day before dropping off to sleep. It would be nice to have a Voice Dream day with Voice Dream Writer to use while at work to jot down notes.

I am still waiting on adaptive technology for my job duties, and you just don't know how long that will take to be delivered. Voice Dream Writer would fill the void quite nicely! With a Bluetooth keyboard and an iPad, how can you go wrong?

Hello

I am a blind high school student who will be going into a running start program next year. I often find writing on my iDevice slow, cumbersome, and all in all, not worth the effort. This creates a bit of a kanundrum, as I use my iPhone for almost everything else. It would be nice to have a writing solution that works for me and that makes writing simple, powerful, and worth while. I thank the developers for putting this forward, and for there previous work. As a student, I use VoiceDream reader daily to read textbooks, as well as other free reading matterials. I think these two apps tied together would inhance my life greatly. If the code does not go to me however, I congradulate the one it goes to. On twitter, I am

This app would be a neat app for on the go uses. Typing on the iPhone 6 plus is a bit easier because of the bigger screen but, I think this app can be helpful in aiding my typing speed.

how this app would help me

There are many note taking apps on the app store, but not all work flawlessly with voice over. This tool will be great for both quick note taking and essay writing alike. It will help in school so that essays and other papers can easily be written. I believe that the tools herein will be of great use in school, in my book writing process, and in my day to day life.

Main use for voice dream writer

The main reason I would use voice dream writer is to help me in writing my biography! I've been trying to write it for many years now. I think this would truly be a help to me!

Things I would use this app for

I have been looking for an accessible app that can sync with dropbox and has accessible editing features. I have looked on this site and other places but have not found an app like What I am looking for. This would be for notes, phone numbers, shopping lists and stuff. I just moved out on my own so being able to make, edit and organise notes is important. I think VDW would be just what I need. My twitter username is . Thank you.

Voice dream writer

From what I have read it does sound like it may have its uses , But to me the feature which would be useful is the word look up and the auto synck with dropbox and other services

Why I would need voice dream writer

I'm a highschool student, and voice dream writer could help me really much. I wouldn't have to wear my heavy brailler and a laptop, just an iPhone with a braille display or a small keyboard would be my notetaker.

Winning A Promo Code For Voice Dream Writer

I believe that this app will be VERY helpful to me for writing my resume so I can find a volunteer job as I am having much trouble using the other conventional apps. Also, preparing other things such as grocery shopping lists so that sighted helpers can help me find groceries.

Seems like a useful app

I have not used any writing apps for the iOS platform that help one write because they seem quite difficult to work with. Voice Dream Writer, on the other hand, sounds exactly like the app I would be able to employ to compose short notes or to write longer documents, something I have to do for my work. Hope to get one of the lucky promo codes!

i hope to win

this app sounds really amazing, espicially when it starts to support other languages. i hope to save 10 dollars by winning one of those codes. i also posted to twitter hoping to double my chance. my handle is

I am a novelist, so would love an effective app for writing

I am an author who publishes under the name Ainsley Brooks. I use Scrivener for writing on the Mac, but haven't found a satisfactory app for use on the iPhone. And I have tried many. Voice Dream Writer is an exciting development. I'm on Twitter. Thanks.

Looking forward to Voice Dream Writer

Hello,
I am a college student and need a good accessible text editor on my iPad.
VD Writer seems to be an exciting solution hopefully in the same vein as the Reader that I love so much.
I hope it works with the RTF format and is easily accessible from a Bluetooth keyboard.

ILooking forward to trying it.

My use for VDW

I am now just beginning a new fiction writing project, and I have been disapointed so far in the choices I have for word processing on iOS. I use my iPhone as my main computer, so I'm excited to hear about a new app for this purpose that was designed from its foundations with the visually impaired and blind in mind. I can't wait to try my hand at being a writer, and this new app sounds like it would remove some barriers in my way.
I am also posting the tweet on

I would love to use this app

I would love to use this app to create documents while I am on the road. I currently work as an AT specialist, and could really use something like this. It would keep me from having to use my computer during meetings. I could simply use my Apple keyboard with my phone to create a document. I could then save it, and then retrieve it, when I get back to my computer. It sounds like it would be a whole lot easier to create bulleted text, headings etc. I will definitely use this App a lot if I either receive a free promo code, or purchase it for myself.

Voice Dream Writer

Hello. I have a lot of good uses in mind for VOice Dream Writer. I am a writer and have a few ideas on my mental blotter to get started on. I believe that Voice Dream Writer could help me evenout my writing a bit and helping me with the niggling things I have problems with.
Also there might come the time that I might need to write a letter or two. It is possible that VOice Dream Writer would enable me to make it more crisp and businesslike and proofreading with it will also help me with a few grammar problems I notice myself having occasionally.

comment about voicedream writer

hello:) I believe that voicedream writer would benefit me because I use an iPod touch fifth generation and if I had to compose something the TTS proofreading would be a benefit so i can hear it read me back what i wrote based on sdscription of app:)
also i posted the twitter recommendation of, "I just entered to win a promo code for the new Voice Dream Writer app on ! http://t.co/6fGOK77lyp "
my twitter ID is joeweakland1027

My reasoning

I trust the developer of this app to make everything as accessible as possible, and I don't think I need to go into an equal access rant here. This app looks like it would be invaluable for any kind of writing task, small or large. I would personally use it a lot for note taking, as well as writing down information on the people I work with during computer training. I may end up going back to school as well, in which case I will probably end up getting an iPad and testing this app for actual assignments. If formatting is good enough, I may never have to bring a computer with me. Dropbox integration is a must have, and I'm really glad to see this here.

Great news!

This will be useful for me to more readily be able to write constructive complaints on the fly when out and about...all those things I forget about by the time I get home! Fall down a pot hole, then immediately get my little iPhone out and get that barage of abuse off to the local authority! Yeeehaaa!

How I would benefit from Voice dream writer

I do a lot of writing. I am always having to make lists. I'm always having to write letters of complaint!
That's just in my personal life…
In my work life, as an English teacher, I construct resources and letters and fill-in forms et cetera all the time!
I love, love, love the idea of this app The thing I particularly would look forward to is the outline feature, the fact that it structures things for you based on what you are doing! I think that is really cool!
Please consider giving me this app! My twitter name is

Other reasons as well

One other thing I don't write song lyrics, but I look for them. If I could see them better through voice dream writer in outline form, verse 1, etc, that would also work, It would be cool if it could one day be scripted to do foot notes so you can use the teribian style of writing for those of us who love using that like myself.

Writing anywhere

I'm a writer. I know, I've published only one book for the time being, but one is a good start, isn't it?

The thing is, you never know when inspiration strikes and I'm always looking for quicker, better, more accurate ways to quickly write down ideas. Dictating them is one option, but I don't like it much. Re-writing what I dictate can lead to new ideas, true, but it also feels like doing the same work twice. I'd rather re-read my notes and add new tidbits. Which means the best way for me to work is write from the getgo. Dictating to the iPhone/iPad works, but many things, especially names of characters, ofte end up looking like unreadable rubbish, and sometimes the result is unusable and your note (or mine!) is lost if I can't get back to editing is soon enough.

So, I make due with what I have, which is so, so much more efficient than what we had even a few years ago. But aren't we always lookig for bigger and better things? I am! I've been using apps and software which readback for years although I'm a constant user of braille displays, because listening to the text is a wonderfully good complement to proofreading, including when I work on translations. On my iPhone I use both VoiceDream (my favourite) and TextAloud.

Lab Animal Number One dashes over to Wordpad after reading the exciting contest on Applevis about Voice Dream Writer. She would love to win! She quickly jots off this post.

To the promo powers that be:

I am a writer and this program sounds like the tool I could use to write on the run. I do my best thinking on the tredmill and a computer is a bit cumbersome to drag along with me when I want to take notes , you know, balancing the keyboard, hauling it across the room, that sort of thing.

I would be very honored if any Applevisians would head over to Breath And Shadow magazine. In the January 2014 issue you will find a story I wrote called "The Statement"

It is a fun creepy little read I hope you will enjoy.

Please, Let it be Me

When I saw the word "free" I jumped at the opportunity. Seriously though, it's hard to write on an iOS device at the best of times, and given the that Voice Dream is such an amazing and accessible App, of course my interest is heightened regarding the new writing App. My twitter name is: rquan33.

excellent app

This app will completely revolutionize text editing on my ios devices, especially my iPad in school, sense we use iPads primarily, and I've been looking for a good text editer for quite a while now. Now we have it, and editing my text will become a whole lot easier! With built-in reading outloud with tts, I don't need to worry about trying to read it with voiceover. Also, my twitter username is: jackf723

This sounds amazing!

Hi,

this app really sounds quite amazing to me. Until now, I really didn't do any writing of long documents on the iPhone, simply because it's quite complicated for me to catch mistakes and correct them, as well as organizing my text into paragraphs and such things. This app sounds like it will be a big help with doing these things, so when I get it I can finally start writing on my iPhone. That's great!

Voice Dream Writer

I think this app looks great. I work with many kids and teachers that I think this app would be great for. I have shown the Voice Dream Reader app to many students and I believe that it has helped many of them with their school work. I also have a blind son that will benefit from this app. Thanks for putting in the work to make this app!

Why the Voice Dream Writer will be great for me.

Hello, I'd like to receive this promo code so that I can use an accessible text editor with TTS feedback. It would make taking notes, and writing blog posts on the go so much easier for me. Usually if I want to work on a blog post or write something down I have to open the notes app, write the note, and email it to myself. With Voice Dream Writer, I can link it to DropBox. This means that I can work on blog posts on the go, and not just on the computer.

My Twitter name is , and I posted this tweat.

A much needed tool for my students

I am a TVI, and currently have 4 high performing students with visual impairment who could benefit from this app. But first, I need to play with it to know how to teach it, and then I can teach my students and other TVIs. They already use and love VoiceDream Reader (so do I!), so I am excited about this addition to the VoiceDream products. My twitter handle is

Great for Teachers

We serve teachers in Indiana. We have a lending library which includes iPads. If we are picked, the app will be added to our iPads so that teachers from all over the state will have an opportunity to try it!

I am working on writing

I am working on writing another devotional book, and I think Voice Dream Writer would help me a great deal and make my writing better than it would otherwise be.
